Afforestation
All plantings consists of mixtures of species natural to Scotland and where possible a provenance as local as it may be found will have priority.
The overall aim is to replant as much as we can within the frames that are given by public Scotland.
Hopefully we can also be allowed to plant in areas that has been designated as a dispensation, with the argument that we have become more knowledgeable about how we can reestablish the best foundation for nature to take over more of what we today do as managers.

Braemore does not have a significant proportion of woodland compared to its size.
We have during the last five years sought to buy land and to apply for more woodland creation. As a result we have planted 40 Hectares in 2022 and are aiming to plant another 100 Ha in late 2023 or beginning of 2024. This work continues and we have targeted other areas on Braemore where we can see reminiscence of old trees from the time when trees were allowed to roam Scotland up to 600 meters above sea level.
