History

For us History is a matter of finding back to when nature had the upper hand.

When there was a wider variety of species  in Flora and Fauna than we see today. Where we as humans again can become spectators and not managers. We therefore understand history as a search for a more undisturbed balance where nature itself again determines evolution.

Our Vision is to help a reestablishment of a better diversity, with a clear aim of providing the tools to help Nature taking more over and to become more untamed.

Some Call it rewilding. For us it is mainly a matter of feeling responsible. Responsible as in when someone feel they have the ability and the duty to assist.

London Underground

Braemore as a Property is most well known for the ownership Mr John Fowler pursued in the late 1800’s

Mr. Fowlers most prestigious achievements were likely the designs and the construction of the first parts of the London Underground as Well as the Fourth road Bridge in Edinburgh.

The house Mr. Fowler erected, Braemore Lodge was demolished in the late 1960’s. A reference confirms that it apparently wad a resultat of dry rot and  lack of maintenance.

The new lodge, a much simpler construction was erected in 1994 and had a smaller new construction addedin 2017.

There a several outbuildings, a managers house and a house made available for weekly lets.

Cultural heritage

Having mentioned our core. We also have to mention that we respect and embrace the culture of the highlands and to a large extent honor history and the way places like this was managed.

We therefore as a part of management have a focus on deer management which to our best intentions are aligned with the local deer groups and the wellbeing of animals. We embrace deer stalking as valued by the countryside as a management tool and possibility to create income.

Used sensibly deer are herbivorer that Can create a grazing pressure in areas with engangsservice biodiversity as a result. Many encourage one to believe that deer have a negative impact which when used correctly is an overall positive. The grazing, the scraping on the ground with hooves and antlers, the thrashing on bushes and young trees are all beneficial for many other species and help the natural dynamic processes, when kept at a stage closer to balance.
